Say it messily, get a clear brief back

To turn a voice note into a brief, dictate into the Brainwrite composer microphone, which uses Apple's on-device speech recognition, and send it to a bot. The bot turns your rambling into a structured brief: goal, audience, key points, deadline, and open questions. It can save it to Google Docs or Notion, or hand it to a specialist to start the work.

Voice note to brief

Turn what I just dictated into a one-page brief for our freelance designer: goal, audience, what the landing page must say, deadline, and open questions. Keep my words for the headline idea. Save it to the Design briefs folder in Google Docs.

The job

Doing it yourself, and handing it off.

Doing it yourself

Ideas arrive faster than you can type them, and the clearest version is the one you would say out loud to a colleague. But a voice memo on your phone sits unplayed, and typing it up later loses half of it. Writing a proper brief for someone else to act on takes twenty minutes of structure, so the idea either waits or goes out as a vague one-line request.

What the team does

  • Turn rambling dictation into a structured brief
  • Pull out deadlines, names, and decisions you mentioned
  • Ask about anything important that is missing
  • Save the brief or hand it to a specialist bot

What waits for you

  • Whether the brief says what you meant
  • Who gets it and what happens next

FAQ

Questions about Voice note to brief

Does dictation send my voice to the cloud?

No. The composer microphone uses Apple's on-device speech recognition, so your voice stays on your Mac. The text it produces is what the bot reads, and that text goes to the AI provider you picked for that bot, like any typed message.

Can I dictate from my phone?

Not yet. Brainwrite runs on macOS today, and the iPhone and Android companion apps are coming soon. For now, dictate in the desktop app. Dictation also works while the window shows your own My Cloud, with recognition still on your Mac.

Can the bot reply with a voice note?

Yes. A bot can attach a voice note to its reply in the voice you chose, with the same text as a visible caption. Voice notes are limited to 1000 characters, so ask for a short spoken summary and keep the full brief as text.
