Jira AI agents that search, file, and move work
Brainwrite connects Jira to your AI agents so they can search issues with JQL, create and edit issues, move them through your workflow, and plan sprints. A bot can read every open bug for a release, group them by component, and tell you what is blocking. You grant each bot the Jira tools it needs and nothing more.
Brainwrite · JiraSearch Jira for open bugs in project WEB with fix version 4.2. Group them by component, flag any without an assignee, and post the list here.
You connect Jira once. Your Chief of Staff puts a bot on it.

Jobs
Jobs your team does with Jira.
Release blocker report
A bot runs a JQL search for open issues tagged to the next version, groups them by component and assignee, and lists what has no owner.
Sprint prep
Before planning, a bot reads the backlog, suggests which issues fit the next sprint, and moves the ones you approve into it.
Ticket clean-up
A bot finds duplicate or stale issues, links duplicates together, and comments asking owners to confirm before anything is closed.
Set up
How to connect Jira.
- 01
Open Connected apps
In Brainwrite, choose Connected apps in the sidebar. The official app sets up the connection service for you; there's no key to paste.
- 02
Search for Jira
Find Jira and choose Connect. You can add more than one account later and label each, such as work or a client.
- 03
Sign in in your browser
Finish Jira's own sign-in in your normal browser. The access token stays with the connection service and never enters a bot's prompt.
- 04
Choose which bots get it
In each bot's settings, give it all tools, an exact list, or none. Imported bots start with none, so nothing reaches your account by surprise.

Issue triage
A bot reads new issues, groups duplicates, and proposes labels, priority, and owners for you to approve.
Engineering
Release readiness
Rigel sweeps open pull requests each weeknight and reports what is ready, stalled, or failing. You merge.
Engineering
Weekly report
Each Friday the Chief of Staff gathers shipped work, open issues, and pipeline changes into one report you approve.

FAQ
Brainwrite and Jira: questions
How do I connect Jira to Brainwrite?
Open Connected apps, search for Jira, and choose Connect. Atlassian's authorization opens in your browser; choose the site and approve. Return to Brainwrite and ask a bot with Jira tools to list your projects. Tokens stay with Composio, not in prompts. If you work across two Atlassian sites, connect each one with its own label.
Can I limit a bot to reading Jira and adding comments?
Yes. In the bot's settings under Connected apps, change Jira from all tools to an exact list such as search issues, get issue, and add comment. Tools left off are never offered to that bot's model. You can also set Jira to no tools for bots that should not touch it at all.
Can a bot write JQL for me?
Yes. Describe what you want in plain English and the bot writes the JQL, runs it through the search tool, and shows you both the query and the results. The connector also includes JQL autocomplete and parse tools, so a bot can check field names before it runs a search.
