Brainwrite connects Discord to your AI agents so they can read channel messages, post and edit messages, start threads, add reactions, pin posts, and create scheduled server events. Channel work runs through Composio's Discord Bot toolkit, a bot you add to your server. The separate Discord toolkit covers your own account, such as the servers you're in.

How to connect Discord.

Open Connected apps
In Brainwrite, choose Connected apps in the sidebar. The official app sets up the connection service for you; there's no key to paste.

Search for Discord
Find Discord and choose Connect. You can add more than one account later and label each, such as work or a client.

Sign in in your browser
Finish Discord's own sign-in in your normal browser. The access token stays with the connection service and never enters a bot's prompt.

Choose which bots get it
In each bot's settings, give it all tools, an exact list, or none. Imported bots start with none, so nothing reaches your account by surprise.

Brainwrite and Discord: questions

How do I connect Discord to Brainwrite?

Open Connected apps, search for Discord, and select Connect, then finish authorization in the browser window that opens. Composio offers two Discord toolkits: Discord for your own account, and Discord Bot for reading and posting in a server's channels. Connect the bot toolkit if you want bots working in channels.

How do I limit what a bot can do in Discord?

In the bot's settings under Connected apps, choose all tools, an exact list, or none for each Discord toolkit. The bot toolkit includes moderation tools such as banning and pruning members, so a community helper should get an exact list with message, thread, and reaction tools only.

Will a bot post in my server without asking?

Not by default. Sending a message to a channel comes to you as an approval card unless you've allowed it. Many community teams keep it that way: the bot drafts answers in the Brainwrite thread and posts only the ones you approve.
