Semrush AI agents for keyword and competitor research
Brainwrite connects Semrush to your AI agents so they can pull keyword overviews and difficulty, related keywords and questions, a domain's organic keywords and pages, and backlink profiles. A bot can compare your domain with three competitors and list the keywords they rank for that you don't. Every report draws on your Semrush API units.
Brainwrite · SemrushCompare example.com with competitor1.com and competitor2.com in the US database. List 20 keywords both competitors rank for in the top 10 that we don't rank for, with volume and difficulty.
You connect Semrush once. Your Chief of Staff puts a bot on it.

Set up
How to connect Semrush.
- 01
Open Connected apps
In Brainwrite, choose Connected apps in the sidebar. The official app sets up the connection service for you; there's no key to paste.
- 02
Search for Semrush
Find Semrush and choose Connect. You can add more than one account later and label each, such as work or a client.
- 03
Sign in in your browser
Finish Semrush's own sign-in in your normal browser. The access token stays with the connection service and never enters a bot's prompt.
- 04
Choose which bots get it
In each bot's settings, give it all tools, an exact list, or none. Imported bots start with none, so nothing reaches your account by surprise.

FAQ
Brainwrite and Semrush: questions
How do I connect Semrush to Brainwrite?
Open Connected apps, search for Semrush, and choose Connect. Semrush connects with an API key rather than OAuth, so the window that opens asks for the key from your Semrush account. The key stays with Composio and is never written into a bot's prompt or the app's interface.
Does using Semrush through Brainwrite cost extra?
Brainwrite doesn't charge for it, but Semrush does: each API request spends API units from your Semrush plan, and API access depends on your plan. The connector has a tool to check your remaining units, so a bot can tell you before running a large comparison.
Can I limit which Semrush reports a bot can run?
Yes. In the bot's settings under Connected apps, choose all Semrush tools, an exact list, or none. Granting only the keyword tools to a writing bot, and backlink and domain tools to an SEO bot, also keeps API unit spending predictable.
